Shopping for a Cure
BY Leila HirschAn estimated 3,200 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in Minnesota this year. It is during the month of October that shoppers are called upon to unite for breast cancer awareness and research and turn their shopping trip into funds donated to breast cancer charities. What a better way to support this cause than with shopping? Multiple stores at Mall of America® offer a wide range of products and events where a portion of the proceeds go to breast cancer research.

- 24 oz. Cold To Go Cup: Caribou Coffee [$14.99]
- Charm Bracelet: Brighton Collectibles [$50]
- Luggage: Tumi [$445]
- Pink Uggs: The Walking Company [$149.95]
My personal favorite is Amy’s Blend, brewed by Caribou Coffee. Amy’s Blend is a tribute to a former employee that lost her battle with breast cancer in 1995. In her honor, Caribou created Amy’s Blend and Collection which includes a number of products from tumblers to water bottles (10 percent of the proceeds go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation).
Susan G. Komen Twin Cities Race for the Cure® will take place at Mall of America® on May 13, 2012. We highly encourage you to not only participate in this life changing event but to register and form your teams early!
