It’s cold out there!
Because the Ice Castle is outdoors and takes approximately 20 – 30 minutes to go through, we recommend that you dress warmly. This means considering things like:

  • scarves
  • mittens
  • wool socks
  • boots
  • hats
  • heavy coats
  • dress in layers!

Insider Tip:
The Ice Castle is always changing. As the weather stays cold, the Ice Castle will continue to grow, even while it’s open to guests. Because it is continuously evolving, we recommend that you plan to visit multiple times for the ultimate Ice Castle experience. Keep up with the changes with the live streaming Ice Castle Cam!

Keep in mind: The Ice Castles: Mall of America does have a capacity. Please be prepared for longer wait times during the grand opening, holidays, evenings and weekends as it is more likely to reach capacity at those times.

  1. I went on opening night. Wasn’t worth the money AT ALL. The coolest thing about it was seeing King Boreas and Klondike Kate and a Vulcan there.

  2. Not sure this is worth full price during the day, as the candles and lights won’t illuminate through the ice in sunlight. Also suggest all fire pits and costumed characters be up and running when the gates open. I feel like I only received half the entertainment at noon yesterday. :(

  4. I took my 4 year old granddaughter on Sunday about 4 PM. The 2 princesses gave her special attention when she told them she wanted to be a princess too. These wonderful ladies each held her hand and told her to close her eyes and count to 3 and she could be a princess just like them. I’ve got a great picture and they made this little girl’s day. Thank you so much for a lifetime memory.

  5. Went with my family of 3 adults and 1 one year old on Wednesday 1/9/13. The weather was perfect, not to cold. We felt the cost was to expensive for what we saw. It was not worth $11.00 per person. Please don’t get me wrong on how beautiful the lights and ice were, but one can see that on the pictures on your web-site.
    DISAPPOINTED:(

  6. Can you walk from the mall or is it best to park next to the castle in the north lot? If walking from the mall, which is the closest entrance and will you need to cross busy streets?

  7. Ever since I read ‘The Snow Queen’ In4th grade in the Grimms Fairy tales book, I’ve been fascinated by the beautiful things you can do with ice and lights. The gorgeous descriptions in the story could be describing this Ice Castle! The color of jewels, the reflections, the cold, the bigness of it—all you need is the Snow Queen. (By the way, you don’t need her—she was mean!!!!!!!!)
