[For Moms] Stroller Strides

BY Erin Vande Steeg

Yes, we’ve been spoiled by this mild winter but don’t let the recent winter blues or 3-6 inches of white get you down. While most of us are preparing to hibernate through the weekend, these ladies have a different agenda. From suburban socialites to city dwellers, moms across the Twin Cities are uniting at Mall of America® to strap up their strollers and get their sweat on!

Meet Emily Christie, fitness instructor and franchise owner of Stroller Strides Twin Cities, a national company that provides a total-body workout for moms with strollers. For Minnesota moms, Stroller Strides offers the opportunity to spend time with their children and socialize with other moms while working through vigorous interval training, cardio and body-toning stations within the pathways of Mall of America. Classes take place before Mall hours to the likes of remixed upbeats including “Baa Baa Black Sheep” and “Farmer in the Dell.”

Interested in attending one of Emily’s classes?

Classes start every Tuesday and Thursday in front of the East entrance to Nickelodeon Universe® near the Rotunda at 9:15 a.m. Meet 10 minutes before class in front of the SpongeBob statue. Bring a water bottle and come dressed to work out!

Stroller Stride classes range from $12 a class to $55 for a month but the first class is complimentary. Babysitter not included, but you won’t need one, after all.

Women must be at least six weeks postpartum to participate and have a doctor’s permission to exercise. Moms are welcome to bring along children of any age as long as they stay in the stroller for the hour long class.
