To Clog or Not to Clog?
BYBy Lisa Steinke | Chicklitisnotdead.com
It’s hard to believe that the red headed stepchild of shoes is baaaaack. And, to be honest, I’ve been one of the biggest clog critiques around. For me, the clog has always conjured images of Dutch girls dancing in wildly uncomfortable shoes. And I’m all for suffering for fashion, but wood? Really ladies? If I lived in Holland, that’d be where I’d draw the line. Or, I’d make millions after designing some type of rubber insole to comfort raw, wood burned feet. But I digress…

So now that they’re back on the scene, it’s kind of hard to turn my shoe snobby nose up at these wooden shoes. Especially when so many respected designers (including my boyfriend, Michael Kors) are making them. So in the interest of fashion, I put my own wooden shoe prejudices aside and did some investigating. It turns out, they’re not all made of solid wood. MK makes a “Sassy” High Heel Clog (pictured left) that’s mostly suede with a wooden platform heel. And you know what? It’s actually pretty sassy- to steal his word. And even better, they’re now on sale at Bloomingdale’s!
And also in the “clog family” I found Clog booties by Tory Burch (another of my designer crushes). The Tory Burch “Ginevra” Clog Booties (pictured left and also found at Bloomies) are mostly suede with a wooden heel and gorgeous gold studs along the footbed. And as much as I don’t want to think about the impending chilly weather I’ll be facing again, I have to admit that they’ll come in handy during the “less than” warm days.
But I soooo should not be thinking about that right now! Back to clogs. What do you think of this trend? Do you clog?
