It’s the most customizable game on the market right now and it’s being played by over 12 million people worldwide. Evident from its 450% jump between 2011 and 2012, Magic the Gathering continues to be one of the most popular trading card games and its popularity is still growing. To celebrate the coming release of the newest game, Avacyn Restored, Games by James is hosting a Magic the Gathering Tournament this coming Sunday in the Rotunda at Mall of America® for pros and amateurs alike. The event will consist of two tournaments, giveaways and a learning area for fans still getting the hang of the game.
So what is it all about? As a novice on the subject, I only know the basics: it involves deadly creatures, sorceries, weapons and different worlds, called planes. Players, referred to as Planeswalkers in this game, use their deck of cards to summon creatures and other dangers to take down their opponent. You can purchase 15-card booster packs to enhance your deck and trade your cards with fellow players to strengthen your future matches. Each game truly is one-of-a-kind.
Check out the video below to learn some more basics about Magic the Gathering, and be sure to stop by the Tournament on Sunday, April 29 from 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. to continue learning about the game or to put your fine-tuned skills to the test.

Many of us believe that colored bottoms are only for teens or the fashion forward among us. With the help of Sara Rogers, you can forget that myth and make this trend your own. Sara recently visited the Fox 9 studios and showed viewers just how to master this fun look in a variety of different ways. From an outfit that you can rock out on the town to a casual errand running look, there is a colored bottom at the Mall of America that will suit your personal style!
Navigating the 4.2 million square feet that makes up Mall of America® can be tricky at times, so we’re thrilled to announce that the Google Maps for Android 6.0 update includes an indoor map of the Mall. Starting yesterday, anyone with an Andriod-powered device will be able to access Google Maps as a tool to zoom in to Mall of America and receive detailed floor plans. Users can browse the floor plans and use the Google Maps My Location feature to see their exact detailed location inside the Mall, represented via the familiar “blue dot” icon. A tool on the right hand side of the screen will also show you which floor you are on, and automatically update the floor plan and labeled points of interest when you go up or down a level. More info on Google Maps for Andoid can be found on the Google Blog here.
Don’t have an Android? Not to worry. Mall of America has a practical and easy to use mobile website for visitors complete with Mall map and directory. Visit www.mallofamerica.com on your mobile deviceand access a mobile directory and map of 500+ stores, restaurants and attractions. Shoppers can simply search for sought after products and retailers alphabetically or by browsing categories. The mobile site also provides links to directions and parking, news and events, attractions and movies, special offers and a guide to dining at MOA™.
Have you used Google Maps for Android yet? What do you think?
The cat-eye is an eternal makeup classic, one that is particularly hot in the makeup scene right now. It has been a favorite look of mine for many years (maybe that has something to do with all of my years in dance line and the striking eye makeup we used to sport). After hundreds of blotchy screw-ups trying to perfect this look with numerous liquid eyeliners, I stumbled across a new liner (MAC Penultimate Eye Liner) that makes the process much easier. People often ask me how I get the perfect cat-eye, so I shot a short video with a few tips so you can get the perfect cat-eye too! Enjoy. If you have any tips or tricks, please share in comments.
About six years ago, I tried a new hair stylist and once she was done blow drying my hair, she took out her flat iron and began to curl my hair. The curls lasted in the heat and humidity all the way through the next day. WHAT?!?! Where had she been the past 19 years of my life when I could not, for the life of me, get curls to stay in my hair no matter what I tried.
Needless to say, I made her show me how to do it myself and bought my flat iron immediately. Over the years people have referred to my hair as curly (as in I don’t work to get the curls almost every day) and I love it! It is extremely easy and you can alter the technique to go from an every day look to a fancy curled up-do.
Trade Secret carries CHI flat irons and is currently trying to get more GHD flat irons like the one I use in the video. Other places to check for flat irons include Marshall’s and any of the salons at Mall of America.
