The menswear trend hit the runways + street fashion circuits by storm this past year and is going strong into 2016. No one knows how to pull off this trend better than our very own Mall of America® trend specialist, Sara Rogers, so we sent her on a mission to give us some outfit inspiration incorporating style borrowed from the boys.
This first look is so easy to pull off, not to mention comfortable but still oh, so chic. Sara literally borrowed from the boys with this outfit by pulling a men’s denim shirt from Cotton On.
Stylist tip: Your outfit doesn’t have to be full on menswear. Embracing a few guy elements in one outfit will make a strong statement. Sara says right now, a baseball cap with a trench coat is one of her favorite combinations—both items are menswear inspired.

For her second look, Sara shows us what a great boyfriend jacket can do to an outfit. Specifically, a boyfriend jacket with a graphic tee. Also, don’t overlook those oxfords. These shoes are a great way to pull off the menswear trend. They also lend support and visually elongate the leg line!
Stylist tip: If you have broad shoulders, consider looking for graphic tees in the men’s department. Don’t be afraid to cross the aisle while shopping. Sara always says that she will shop any department that sells her size.

Last, but certainly not least, Sara shows us how the plaid newsboy cap serves up the masculine trend. Instead of the trouser, she went with playful bell bottoms featuring the ubiquitous lace up detail trend.
