Garret Borns, better known by his stage name BØRNS, has taken the indie-pop scene by storm. The “Electric Love” crooner has mesmerized us with his ethereal sound and psychedelic fashion in just over two years. The Midwest-native recently made a stop at Mall of America® during his global tour and I took the opportunity to ask him a couple of questions about his music, style and work ethic. Here’s what he had to say.

Q: Which musicians, past or present, would you love to collaborate with?

A: Brian Eno. I’ve been revisiting a lot of his minimal analogue stuff on the road. It’s truly from another planet.

Q: Tell us about your personal style. What’s your favorite piece from your wardrobe, and why?

A: I suppose my style is dedicated to picking up pieces while touring. My good friend and stylist Kat Typaldos finds some pretty righteous, silky flowing things for me.

Q: Between a global tour and having your single “Electric Love” all over the airwaves, how do you remain grounded?

A: Well, it’s been over a year of tour with my band and we never really get down time. Hard work keeps you grounded.

We had a blast hosting BØRNS at Mall of America, and we can’t wait for him to be back in Minnesota. Until then, enjoy these photos from his Mall of America set.
