It’s Saturday. You’re lying on the couch in your pajamas at 1 p.m. binge-watching the greatest Netflix series of the moment like there is no tomorrow when the doorbell rings. Instant panic ensues. Who could it be? What do they want? And why didn’t I bother to hop in the shower before accepting my ‘10-episode-Saturday’ fate (yes, Netflix, I AM still watching)? You saunter over to the mirror, size yourself up and have just a split second to decide what you’re going to do to make yourself presentable to the outside world—what do you choose? I call this your ‘fashion ammo’. That ONE THING you reach for in a fashion pinch.
I posed this question to 55425 style team, in hopes of finding a few additional go-to options to add to my arsenal.
MARIA: Lipstick. No matter what season it is, a pop of color on the lips can go a long way. In the colder months I reach for MAC Cosmetics’ D is for Danger and once the weather heats up, I’m a sucker for bright pops of pink (try All Fired Up or Be Silly, both available at MAC Cosmetics)
JAMIE: Chantecaille Liquid Black Eyeliner available at Nordstrom. I don’t ever leave the house or have a guest over without having my signature cat eye done. Liquid eyeliner can completely change a dreary look into something chic
EMILY: A good tube of mascara. Swipe some on to look awake, alert and polished (even if you don’t have time to apply more make-up or complete your look). If you can keep others focused on your eyes, they might not even notice you were in a rush. For a flirty, full-coverage look I recommend Dior Diorshow Mascara or Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara, both available at Sephora.
ELISSA: I find a good pair of shoes, specifically booties with a heel, give me a pep in my step, help with my posture and make me feel like a total rock star! Try The Openhouse Bootie by Stuart Weitzman for spring.
JENNIFER: A long cardigan. I can throw it over whatever I’m wearing to quickly make it into an outfit. A cardigan can even make sweatpants look like a complete outfit! Try shopping at Banana Republic, Club Monaco or Nordstrom to find your match.
RACHEL: The top-knot bun. It’s an easy and quick way to tame an out-of-control mane, and always looks like you actually spent quality time in front of the mirror (when it actually only took a few seconds). I have a bobby pin stash ready at all times!
What’s your fashion ammo?
