Wearing white between Memorial Day and Labor Day became a rule of high society in the Victorian era. I, personally, believe that the rules of fashion are meant to be broken and one should dress in whatever makes them happy. That being said, I love wearing white in the summer. It’s light, breezy + frankly, makes sense to wear in the sun. I’ve put together three outfits to help inspire your summer wardrobe.
Outfit One: Romantic White
This outfit screams summer ease to me. It’s a little romantic, even reminiscent of the Victorian-era that established the rules for wearing white. This dress, from Lucky Brand, could be easily styled for a more casual or formal event. With these accessories it’s relaxed, on-trend + perfect for a cook-out with the family.
Dress + Hat: Lucky Brand- Level 1, South (S170)
Bag: Free People- Level 1, South (S149)
Shoes: DSW- Level 1, West (W124)
Outfit Two: Sophisticated Separates
I love the versatility of this denim skirt from Cotton: On. Mainly because you can pair it with a white shirt for a dress illusion or add a pop of color with a different colored shirt. It really can be worn with any color and is such a great staple to transition your wardrobe from spring to summer. This season it’s all about the natural woven, wicker bags and we’ve seen them all around Mall of America!
Shirt + Skirt: Cotton: On- Level 2, North (N278)
Purse: Altar’d State- Level 1, North (N105)
Shoes: DSW- Level 1, West (W124)
Outfit Three: Texture Play
This year it’s all about incorporating different textures into your outfits. This chambray dress from Free People is such a great basic + the net bag adds so much personality. I think this outfit would be a perfect fit for a picnic or a day at the beach- or a picnic at the beach!
