For the fashion-inclined, dressing for a game can pose a unique challenge. “Stadium styling,” as I like to call it, isn’t always as easy as throwing on a jersey or T-shirt. I’m 5’2” with a pixie cut: put a jersey on me and I look like a kid going to summer camp. For this football fan, game day is about two things: cheering on my team, and looking darn good doing it.
Maybe you’re going to US Bank Stadium; maybe you’re watching the game with friends at a bar; or maybe you’re throwing together a house party! Whatever the game plan, you can bet the fashionistas among us will be dressing for the occasion. Here are some ways to show off your team pride without sacrificing that keen style of yours.
Tasteful Team Pride
Sashka’s shirt from Lids is incredibly soft and has a great, flattering cut. What I really love about it is its lack of rhinestones or glitter. It’s simple and elegant for a T-shirt. Thank you, Lids! Pairing it with a black leather skirt elevates the otherwise casual pieces for a fun, polished, let’s-cheer-on-our-team-but-also-look-great-for-Instagram style.
My go-to lucky sweater is this Clay Matthews wool number from Rybicki Cheese. And Tim’s T-shirt is a favorite of mine, with that “Minnesota nice” design and Hammer Made logo.
A More Subtle Look
If purple + gold or green + yellow are not your colors—no worries. What I love about this hat + earrings combo from Vikings Locker Room is their subtlety. She is repping the Vikings logo in an understated and very wearable way. Sportswear on a neutral color pallet; I never thought I’d see the day.
Layer Up!
Nothing says fall like soft, draping layers. I am in love with this poncho from Rybicki Cheese. Sashka is sporting possibly my favorite look of this entire blog post: the Dooney & Bourke Vikings bag paired with a plaid Vikings scarf, both found at Vikings Locker Room.
Meanwhile, Tim is wearing a green + yellow button-up, which on its own is already a great shirt. But what’s that on his wrist? Do you see that? It’s a Packers cuff link! The shirt + cuff links are both from Hammer Made, and yes, they’ve got them for Vikings fans too.
Fashion Brings Us Together
At the end of the day, we don’t have any control over what happens in a game. You know what we do have control over? Being really, really ridiculously good looking while we cheer on our team.
